The women javelin event was quite interesting as well. Some positions have changed couple of times throughout the competition. In the end, Haruka Kitaguchi had the upper hand and takes gold with a new personal best of 60.35m. She increased her pb by almost 5 meters. Stella Weinberg takes the silver medal, also with a new personal best of 57.11m. Laine Donane places 3rd with 56.15m.
Throughout the competition the position for the gold medal has changed quite a lot. During the first round Haruka Kitaguchi threw already a new personal best of 56.42m to lead the field of young throwers. Laine Donane was quite close with her first attempt of 56.15m. During the 2nd round nothing really has changed for the gold medal position.
In round three Stella Weinberg increased her previous attempt of 51.99m to 57.11m and took the lead in the competition. it seems that the medal positions were set in stone because no one was able to reach Stella’s 3rd round throw until a massive new personal best was achieved by the Japanese Haruka Kitaguchi. She improved her personal best by almost 5 meters during the 5th round to 60.35m, which of course meant the gold position for now.
Stella Weinberg did not throw her 5th and 6th attempt. Let’s hope she is ok and she does not face any injuries. Laine Donane threw another 56.10m to underline her ambition for the bronze medal. Nikol Tabackova came quite close with her 5th round effort of 55.97m but could not overtake Laine and became 4th.
