Christoph Harting did make some headlines during May with world leading marks in the men’s discus event. First he threw 67.53m, which was the first world leading mark for him and then improved that one week later at the biggest throwing festival in the world to 67.93m. The past competitions were not that impressive but there is a reason for it.
First of all everyone should know that Christoph does not want to be named as “younger brother of Robert Harting“. And now after his two world leading marks everyone should respect that and call him Christoph Harting.
After the two impressive competitions Christoph Harting was set back by angina and taking antibiotics for about two weeks. “Then the feeling to throw was gone completely,” said Christoph. As a result his past competitions were not quite spectacular. He fouled all attempts at the FBK Games in Hengelo, threw 62.22m in Berlin end of May, 62.19m at the Bislett Games, Oslo Diamond League meeting and only 63.90m in Saint-Dennis Diamond League Meeting. Christoph is quite sure he will be able to change that until the World Championships in Beijing, China are up. He will take the risk not throwing very well at the German national Championships focusing only on the intensive training and technical issues to be solved.
