Big Comeback for Vera Rebrik with 63.15m (207′ 2″)

At the recent Russian Cup in Yerino, Russia, some good throwing results were achieved. Vera Rebrik, who was previously Ukrainian, starts now for Russia. After 1 1/2 years absence she came back with a bang. Her best throw was 63.15m, which brings her in a good position to be nominated for the upcoming World Championships in Beijing, China.
The former Ukrainian javelin thrower Vera Rebrik starts nowadays for Russia. The past 1 1/2 years she has not picked up the javelin for a competition until this years Russian Cup. She opened the competition with 58.40m before the hit the javelin like in former days. Her new season best of 63.15m followed in round 2. Mariya Abakumova is also trying to make the team for the World Championships in Beijing, China. Unfortunately, her competition was not as expected. Her best effort was 57.24m. She gave birth to twin recently and it seems that she has not fully recovered yet. Viktoriva Sudarushkina placed 3rd with 56.65m.
Aleksey Khudyakov takes a big win in the men’s discus event with a new personal best of 61.25m. Aleksandra Dobrenshkiy, who also threw a new personal best, placed second with his effort of 59.08m. Maskim Gigashvili became 3rd with 58.40m.
In the shot put event no one was able to go beyond the 20m mark. The best was Maksim Sidorov who won the competition with 19.37m. He was followed by Maksim Afonin 19.34m and Soslan Tsirikhov’s new season best of 19.13m. Kirill Ikonnikov won the men’s hammer event with 73.61m and Valeriy Iordan the men’s javelin competition with 76.54m
