Yesterday the North Rhine-Westphalia Hammer Throwing Cup took place at the Besagroup stadium in Rhede, Germany. The Qatari Ashraf Amgad Elseify threw the 7.26kg hammer 78.04m (256′ 0″) to achieve a new personal best which ranks him 8th in the 2015 world top list.
The men’s hammer competition was the main event of the North Rhine-Westphalia Hammer Throwing Cup 2015. The German hammer thrower Markus Esser was facing the strong Qatari Ashraf Amgad Elseify. Markus opened the competition with 73.37m (240′ 8½”)which he could not further improve on during the competition.
Completely different competition for Ashraf Amgad Elseify. The Qatari produced two new personal best throughout the competition. He opened with 74.36m (243′ 11½”) to take the lead over Markus Esser. During his second attempt, Ashraf Amgad Elseify improved his previous personal best to 76.21m (250′ 0¼”). Three further throws beyond the 75m mark underlined his great shape. His best effort was measured 78.04m in round 4. All of his attempts were enough to win the competition against Markus Esser. Sven Möhsner placed 3rd with 66.83m (219′ 3″)
It is the first senior year for Ashraf Amgad Elseify throwing the 7.26kg implement. The throwing world knows him so far from his previous world records with the 5kg hammer (85.26m/279′ 8″)and the 6kg hammer (85.57m/280′ 9″).
