Johannes Vetter improved his personal best with a massive throw of 85.40m at the javelin competition in Jena. In addition, there were numerous qualification standards for the international U20 World Championships achieved.
During the first round Johannes Vetter already improved his personal best to 83.17 and ticked the qualification standard for the upcoming World Championships in Beijing off his list. Thomas Röhler surpassed him during the 3rd round with a throw of 83.62m.
Johannes Vetter improved even further during the 5th round. He added two meters and achieved 85.40m. Thomas Röhler could not improve during his last two attempts and placed 2nd in the end, followed by Bernhard Seifer 79.90m.
