The shot put the women event at the Hallesche Thrower days will probably be a rematch of the German Indoor Championships in Karlsruhe. The three gold, silver and bronze medailists Lena Urbaniak, Denise Hinrichs and Josephine Terlecki are going to face each other for the first time after the national championships in Karlsruhe.
In Karlsruhe Lena Urbaniak won with just three centimeters ahead of Denise Hinrichs. Josephine Terlecki caught a bad day and finished third. At the European Indoor Championships in Prague, Czech Republic, Denise came after many years of injury and a dry spell finally back into an international final, while Lena missed it.
The three German shot putters will face international competition. The two Polish women Paulina Guba and Angieszka Maulskiewicz, the British Francis Eden and the Italian Julaika Nicolette are as strong as the Germans according to the achieved results this year.
