2013 Universiade silver medalist, Inderjeet Singh from India won the shot put at the recently concluded Federation Cup at Mangalore, India with a new personal best of 20.65m (67′ 9″) . In the process, he also qualified for the 2015 World Championships at Beijing and the 2016 Rio Olympics. The qualification period for the Rio Olympics opened on the 1st of May and the 26 year old had emulated the mark on the 2nd of May.
The left-handed shot putter improved on his personal best of 20.14m (66′ 1″) set back in February, this year. Inderjeet has his sights set on the Asian Athletics Championships to be held in Wuhan, China from June 3rd ,this year before competing at the World Championships.
Apart from Inderjeet, Arjun Singh, who won the Silver medal at 2010 Youth Olympic Games, hurled the disus to a new PB of 58.51m (191′ 11″) to grab the first place.
