Once more it’s the time of the discus “queen” Sandra Perkovic. Throwing on her home soil today; Perkovic went big in Split, Croatia with her 70,08m (229′ 11″). The Olympic, World and European Champion is the only athlete who has beat the 70m mark after the turn of the millennium. She underlines her great shape and marks herself the gold medal favorite for the upcoming World Championships.
I am very happy. I did not know how far I could throw. During my training sessions there were no discs going over the 70m, thus I’m very surprised. The implement did not fly perfectly and was not technically very good, hence I am quite sure I can do a lot better. The season will show what I’m capable of.
I always open by season in Split which helps me a lot. When I open big in Split the season always turns out to be great.
Congratulation from the whole Throwholics Team. We’re all looking forward to watching and writing about your build-up to Beijing and Rio.
