Same as the previous years, I train under the wings of Jürgen Schult, who is the world record holder, in Potsdam. Most of the training sessions I’m alone with my coach Jürgen and sometimes the training squad of Jörg Schulte, including the Prüfer brothers and Kristin Pudenz, will join me. In addition, from time the French discus thrower Lola Sun Jouhan visits and trains with us.
After three weeks of season break and holidays on Fehmarn and in Dubai, my winter training has started as usual with the general training phase. The most important part is to analyse the past seasons injuries and deficits and to prepare the body to the high training load in winter. This mainly includes conditional training such as circles, power circuits, Gymnastics, running, light jumps, etc … I also had this year a course in the army, at which I had to undergo exercises out of the ordinary which also helps my body to be prepared for the upcoming season.
We have adjusted the throwing and weight training sessions slightly due to the past two injuries within the last two years. The four weeks training loss from the past years should not happen again. The first competition of 2015 will be in Wiesbaden Germany in May, followed by the world largest throwing competition in Halle, Germany.
