My off season has been going well. I’m stronger than I was last year and I have fixed some technical things that hopefully will bring long throws. I’ve been pretty healthy besides some nagging injuries but hopefully they will get fixed up.
What do you need to work on, improve?
Better base strength and overall better technique in discus and shot put.
Where will you be living this winter?
Who are you training with?
My brother and some of his athletes when our schedules permit.
Are you throwing in the off-season in practice?
I have been throwing heavy discus and just doing lots of shot put drills due to injured hand.
What weight lifting exercises will you do?
Deadlift, front/back squats, clean/snatch, incline/flat bench press and pushpress and jerks. Those are my main lifts.
Who is your coach?
Vesteinn Hafsteinnson. I see him when we are at camps and when I’m in Sweden. Skype in the off season.
Do you see your coach much?
I skype my coach in Sweden as much as possible for throwing and I try and get in an lift with others but i do lift by myself a lot.
Are you going to try anything new this off-season? If so, what?
More reps in weightlifting and building a big base. Also we are changing some things up in my throwing technique. Things have been going well.
What will you do to relax? Vacation planned?
I spend as much time as I can with my wife and our dog. No money for vacations.
When do you plan to compete again?
I’m hoping to compete indoors in shot put but my opener will be delayed until February. I’m not sure exactly when I will start.
