What do you need to work on?
Unfortunately, I lose speed during the run-up of the throw. For the longest throws last season the slowing down was not that bad. I really do hope that I will be able to reduce the slowing down to a minimum.
Where will you be living this winter?
Most of the time I’m home in Leverkusen, Germany. But there were and definitely are some training camps somewhere else. The first one we did in November at the Bundesleistungszentrum Kienbaum, Germany. In late November and early December we were part of the large German national team which went to Stellenboch in South Africa. We all did enjoy the heat over there. Until the beginning of the season we will train definitely two more weeks in Kienbaum, in Portugal and in Croatia.
Who are you training with?
Our large squard consist of throwers from all events. We do have shot putter, discus, hammer and javelin throwers within our training squad. Regarding the javelin throw, I do work and train with Linda Stahl and Till Wöschler.
Are you throwing in the off-season in Practice?
If the circumstances (weather wise) are all right, we definitely do some throwing sessions outside as well.
What weight lifting exercises will you do?
During the winter training the exercises will be diverse. During the summer and before the main events I do most of the time snatch and neck press.
Do you see your coach much? Who ist you coach?
My coach is Helge Zöllkau and I do see him almost every training session. He does not have the time to overlook every single exercise due to the large amount of throwers in our squad but for the technical training sessions he will be around and check upon us more precisely.
Are you going to try anything new this off-season?
Yes, we started to implement hurdles training in our regular program but nothing new specifically for the javelin throwing.
What will you do to relax?
Right after the season ended I’ve been to Cyprus for about 10 days and I’ve relaxed at the beach most of the time and did not do anything. During christmas time our amount of training sessions decreased as well so that we were able to share more time with our families.
When do you plan to compete again?
The first competition for me would probably be the European Winter Throwing Cup in Leiria, Portugal, in March. But this will most likely be the only competition within the winter time. In May the season will start and more competitions will be attended. Usually, the Halleschen Werfertage will be the first competition.
