What do you need to work on, improve?
The main thing, in my opinion, that I have to work on, is Tecnic. I’m a 3turn hammer thrower, but my feet work isnt that good. Strengh, speed …. are all things that are easy to work on, but tecnic, isnt. Main focus on 2014/2015 season is tecnic and its something i already started working on.
Where will you be living this winter?
I live in Portugal, in a Town called Povoa de Varzim. Its next to the sea, the weather here is great. At this time of year, there isnt that much rain, so outdoor training is something we can do.
Who are you training with?
My trainer, since i started throwing (16years ago) is my father. He was a shot putter in the 70s/80s, his PB was 15.91mts, i know it isnt that good, but in Portugal at that time, he was the best thrower.
Are you throwing in the off-season in practice?
Right now im starting throwing shot put again. But also putting some time on the drills for working the hammer tecnic. Will start throwing hammer in dezember.
What weight lifting exercises will you do?
In that i like to stay with the basics. Snatch, clean & jerk, dead lift, squat ….. the exercices that normaly throwers do. Love gym work.
Who will you train with?
Unfortunatly or fortunatly, it depends on the way you see it, i train only with my father. No training partners, no nothing.
Do you see your coach much? Who is your coach?
Since my coach is my father and i live with my parents. I see my coach everyday and usually he goes with my to trainings and comps.
Are you going to try anything new this off-season? If so, what?
Well the off-season is always a good time to try new things. Wanted to see how did the crossfit training worked and did some WODs. Its fun, probably going to try that “world” a couple of times. we will see what happens. Maybe its time to take a trainer course in Track&field, weightlifting and crossfit.
What will you do to relax? Vacation planned?
Vacation is always the same. Beach time with family and friends. Going to spain to visit family. Just relaxing and such. But still do a couple of trainings per week to stay in some sort of shape.
When do you plan to compete again?
I plan to start the season on the first weeks of January. Probably will do a hammer comp. This year, the winter throwing cup is in Leiria again, and i want to do well there.
