Where will you be living this winter?
I am going into my senior year at the University of Texas so I am staying in Austin and going to school while I train so I don’t have to worry about funding for the time being.
Who are you training with?
I am coached by Ty Sevin and Mario Sategna and I see and train with them on a daily basis.
Are you throwing already?
On the throwing side I take a lot of throws, usually 30 a day alternating days between shot and disc. I also spend a lot of time on drills and specific strength exercises to maintain technique and functional strength.
What weight lifting exercises will you do?
I lift 5 days a week and throw 5 days a week. In the weight room my focus is on gaining weight and increasing my strength levels with a focus on overhead strength: incline bench, jerks, and snatch.
Are you going to try anything new this off-season?
In shot I am not trying to make many changes, Disc I am focusing on my finish and trying to get my performance more relative to my shot in terms of consistency.
What will you do to relax?
I don’t have much time to relax with school, but on my free time I like to go kayak fishing, there’s some great bass fishing around Austin. My only real vacation is to head back to Oregon and stay with the family for a couple weeks over Christmas.
When do you plan to compete again?
My first competition will be indoors in January, so until then it is a lot of lifting and throwing.
Let me know if you have any more questions or would like to go into more detail.
