Mark Dry (born 11 October 1987) is a British hammer thrower with a personal best of 74,82m (245′ 5″) thrown in May 2012. In 2014 in the xx Glasgow Commonwealth Games Mark came third behind Jim Steacey (Canada) and Nicholas Miller (England).
What do you need to work on, improve?
A list as long as ron jeremy’s Johnson but technique, hammer strength and general power output needs to be much higher in my opinion
Where will you be living this winter?
costa del Loughborough for me with work and college
Who are you training with?
mainly one of our junior kids taylor campbell but we have a bigger group of throwers now with Zane Duquemin and his sister, and my more throwers in town like sophie hitchon and co
Are you throwing in the off-season in practice?
obsolutely i know theres many thoughts on such things but i throw all year round in one variation or another long/shot/heavy/light or a combination of whatever feels good
What weight lifting exercises will you do?
ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!! (just some base stuff deadlifts and squat variations with some pulls and the rest will be specific strength)
Who will you train with?
ricky brusch in my mind, i want to see a big resurgence of lifting in christmas jumpers this year
Do you see your coach much? Who is your coach?
Unfortunately not, I’m coached by Tore Gustaffson, just at this time i have commitments to pay my bills so am stuck at work and college doing sports massage so struggle with money and time to get to see him and Tore is running his business Viking Performance over in San Jose and has his own commitments but we’re making it work with the wonders of the interweb.
Are you going to try anything new this off-season? If so, what?
for me back to those basic strong lifts will be different to the last few years to get my base strength up and some big changes technically that we’ve held off for a while due to consistency fears
What will you do to relax? Vacation planned?
Ha i wish, i will be sleeping at every available moment
When do you plan to compete again?
Hopefully make it out to the european winter throws cup in march this year as i never went last year and after a long winter its quite nice to break it up and get out there more for fun than anything
