What do you need to work on, improve?
My main focus is to improve the technical side to my throwing as i feel my strength and speed is good enough to be throwing 80m and beyond!
Where will you be living this winter?
I will be living in the UK in the City of Sheffield. Where i have access to a fantastic indoor facility the EISS (English Institute of Sport Sheffield) where i am able to do all my training without having to be dependent on the weather.
Who are you training with?
At the moment i do my strength training with other elite athletes but throw on my own which i admit isn’t ideal.
Are you throwing in the off-season in practice?
During the off-season I throw twice a week so that i am able to work on the technical side of my throwing and make changes ahead of the forthcoming season where more emphasis is then on fewer more high quality throws.
What weight lifting exercises will you do?
The large majority of my strength training is based upon weight lifting exercises such as; Power Cleans, Power Snatches, Back Squats and Back Jerks.
Do you see your coach much? Who is your coach?
I am currently coaching myself after my old coach (Mick Hill) didn’t have the time to continue to coach me which has had a significant effect on my throwing. So at the moment i use video analysis to analysis my throws when possible.
Are you going to try anything new this off-season? If so, what?
No, I will be continuing to work on the technical aspects of my throwing which i was working on last season and hopefully things will come together next season.
What will you do to relax? Vacation planned?
Currently i am not funded by UK Athletics which restricts my training time and relaxation time as i have to work part-time to fund myself. So while i’m not training i’m usually working unfortunately.
When do you plan to compete again?
I hope to be chosen to compete at the European Winter Throwing Cup in March next season held in Portugal as its a competition i have done in the past and found it a great competition where i get the opportunity to open my season with a good season mark against high quality competitors (something i don’t get the opportunity to do very often but hope to get invited to next season).
