Spotakova separates from coach Zelezny

Two-time Olympic Javelin Champion Barbora Spotakova and her coach Jan Zelezny go now separate ways. Reason for the end of the cooperation are different opinions as to what concerns the preparation for the upcoming season, according to a press release.
Spotakova have wished for, “better balance family and Training” and was therefore ready to do a complete six-week training camp in South Africa. Barbora’s son is one and a half year old. From now on Barbora will do the preparation for the upcoming season by herself and not with any coach at all. Her major goals are the 2015 World Championships in Bijing, China and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
However, the training camp in South Africa is for Zelezny an important part of preparation. “I can take no guarantees for her performance, if I do not see her. But we remain friends and she can always ask me for advice,” Zelezny said. Spotakova was sympathetic: “I know what he means, but for me the family has priority.
Spotakova (33) and the three-time Olympic champion Zelezny (48) began their collaboration in 2010. During this time, the world record holder (72.28 m (237′ 1”) won at the Olympic Games in London her second gold after Beijing in 2008 and was European Champion 2014 in Zurich.
