What do you need to work on, improve?
I definitely need to work on my overall fitness, do things we normally don’t do during the season or at least not often. That means more gymnastics, long runs, etc. After all, I also need to work on the technique which is an important thing through the whole year because I think that there is always something you can improve. Especially in my case
Where will you be living this winter?
I will be living in Potsdam,Germany for the rest of the year. We’re not in trainings camp until January, which will be in Kienbaum,Germany.
Who are you training with?
I’m training with my coach Jörg Schulte and the brothers Henning and Clemens Prüfer. Sometimes it’s difficult because I am the only girl in the group and I can’t compete with the boys while training as I could with a girl… but most of the time it’s fun and I get along with them good.
Are you throwing in the off-season in practice?
Yes, we are throwing discus in the off-season, too. Not as much as we do in the season, of course but we still throw like once a week or sometimes twice , just so we don’t lose that feeling of throwing a discus and to work on our technique. We do a lot of imitation exercises in the off-season, too.
What weight lifting exercises will you do?
We do the ‘normal’ exercises like snatch, bench press, clean etc. While I don’t do dead lifts during the season, I love to do them off-season. We also do a lot of body weight exercises or exercises with less weight but more repetitions, we call it ‘Kraftkreise’.
Do you see your coach much?
I see my coach every day during the week.
Are you going to try anything new this off-season?
My coach and I are always trying to improve so sometimes he or I come up with a new idea for training and we just try it out. So I guess there will be something new but I don’t know what it will be yet.
What will you do to relax?
I meet up with friends or read a good book and drink a cup of tea. Sometimes I also like to just relax and lay in bed and sleep a little bit.
I already went on vacation after I finished my season in August, I was at my parents home, went to Milan with a friend and I also went to Hamburg. I enjoyed the free time and the chances I had to discover something new. After the vacation, I have to admit that I was happy to get back into training for the new season.
When do you plan to compete again?
I think it will be next year in May, possibly the throwing cup in Wiesbaden, Germany. So there is a lot of time left to get better.
