In deed, I had a year off season because I was pregnant. So I just enjoyed the time not having any competitions, travel and time beeing at home with friends and family. Since Marlon is born we (Boris and me) enjoyed the time with him. He is five month old now, and I started training 4 weeks ago to get ready for the upcoming World Championship Season.
To be honest I started with the same basic athletic training as I did all the years before. Coach said I was pregnant and not injured ;-) Of course we started with a lower intensity. But today, 4 weeks later I feel that everything is coming back really fast. It will become more interesting when we start throwing again in a few weeks time. I never had such a long break in throwing…..usually we do a break from throwing between September and December. But this year I did not throw for a long long time…..and I hope I remember how it felt to throw! But I am sure I will and I hope I will be as strong as Spotakova was after being pregnant.
I think the biggest challenge at the moment is not training but rather the missing sleep I get because Marlon wakes me up to 3 times a night……
To work on, to improve:
I think the biggest point I can make, still is to improve technique. So we will work on details concering that.
Living in the winter:
Our little son is five month old now. So we decided to stay at home until february. I have all possibilities to train good here in Offenburg. The only thing that is missing that time is the sun ;-) So we go to South Africa (Stellenbosch) at the end of february for 3 weeks time.
We are just a little training group. I train with two jounger javelin throwers, Johannes Vetter and Florian Janischek.
Neck jerk, squats, bench press, pullover are the main lifting exercises.
I see my coaches every day. It is my husband Boris who is doing technique with me and my athletic coach Werner Daniels.
sleep sleep sleep :-)
If everthing is going normal without injury etc. I planned to compete again next season starting in May.
all the best
