Todays great throwing results continue with the women’s javelin event at the Diamond League meeting in New York. Linda Stahl takes the world lead with a massive throw of 67,32m. The Australian Kathryn Mitchell takes the second place with 66,08m and the Latvian javelin thrower Madara Palameika placed third with a new national record of 64,89m.
There are some great throwing results happening today. First Harting takes the lead in the DL race with 68,24m then Jasinski wins a comp in Leiden, the Netherlands with 64,14m and then the youngstar Shanice Craft wins the U23 national championships with an impressive serie above 63m.
Todays women’s javelin comp was Linda Stahl’s time to shine. She underlined her increasing shape with some massive throws throughout the entire competition. Linda opened the competition with 64,09m, got overtaken by Kathryn Mitchell and her 66,08m toss. Kathryn lead the competition until the third round and Linda’s massive throw of 67,32m which was also a new world leading throw.
Linda continued her great serie of throws with 65,72m, 63,35m, 64,56m and 66m. Kathryn Mitchell couldn’t improve anymore after her first attempt. Her second best throw was only measured 62,55m.
The Latvian Palameika threw a new national record with her last round trow of 64,86m and secured the third spot on the podium. Kara Patterson from the US threw a new season best of 62,47m same as the German Katharina Molitor with 61,67m.
“I am very satisfied with the personal best today,” Stahl said. “I came in a little tired with three competitions in the last week but felt great after warm-ups. My first throw was a season best and I knew it was not a perfect throw, so it progressed from there.”
