At todays “Pfingstsportfest” in Rehlingen, Germany some great results have been produced. Despite the extreme hot weather the womens discus, mens shot put and womens shot put showed world class throws. To start off, the 21-year-old German discus thrower Shanice Craft beats Nadine Müller and Julia Fischer. She threw 65,17m (213′ 9″) in the first round and shocked everyone.
Right from the start it looked like that Shanice Craft would be the one to be battled for the 1st spot on the podium. She started the competition with incredible 65,17m (213′ 9″) only a few cm short of her personal best of 65,38m (214′ 6″) thrown earlier in Eugene, USA. Shanice was not able to improve any further after this incredible throw. Her second attempt was measured 64,03m (210′) which also underlines her great shape.
The currently ranked 3rd in the world’s top list Nadine Müller is still trying to find her way to throw the 1kg implement as far as she used to do. She started the competition horribly with 55m (180′ 5″) but then improved during her second attempt to 64,08m (210′ 2″). During the rest of the throws she was very consistend with threw more throws over the 63m line. Julia Fischer, who is currently placed 4th in the world with 66,45m (218′) took the third sport on the podium with 62,10m (203′ 8″). She produced fourt fouls and who knows how far these went.
I’m glad I was able to confirm the 65m from eugene today and I took the win despite the high temperature
It was way too hot. I cannot be satisfied when the younger generation (Shanice) defeats me. I want to stay the best German discus thrower! And I really hope that I will be able to show that at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich, Switzerland. I’m confident that I will be able to show everyone who’s No 1!
“Mülli and Shanice are mean and stupid because they threw further than I did :-D .Nah just kidding. Since Eugene I’ve had some problems with my back. I was a bit too tight today. Unfortunately for me Rehlingen was to close after Eugene.
Not only the women’s discus event produced some great results. Also the German Shot put start Christina Schwanitz, who’s 2nd in the world, pushed the 4kg ball close to the 20m mark. Her best attempt was measured 19,90m (65′ 3″). All her valid throws would have been enough to win the competition. The second place was taken by Jospehine Terlecki with a 3m distance to Schwanitz.
At the 2014 European Team Championships in Braunschweig I should be able to lift the 4kg ball over the 20m line, said the vice world champion. Shot put women
No one less than David Storl won the men’s shot put event with 21,15m (69′ 4″) and increased his season best by 5cm. Right before the competition David Storl was relaxing with an alcohol free beer in the sun. Tomasz Majewski was in no condition to beat David Storl. He ended up with almost 1m short and a toss of 20,28m (66′ 6″).
Heat battle against the Olympic winner clearly won – by a margin of 87 cm. Day After Tomorrow oslo …
