The European Athletics Team Championships are taking place in Braunschweig, Germany today. The Russian Sergey Litvinov won the competition with 76,34m, followed by the French thrower Quentin Bigot (76,15m) and the Polish World Champion Pawel Fadjek (75,26m).
The hammer event produced not the results one would have expected before the competition. The World Champion Pawel Fadjek was not getting into the competition easily. He only managed to toss one valid throw which was measured 75,26m. The youngstar Quentin Bigot from France surprised the competitors and took the second place with 76,15m.
No one was getting even close to the 80m mark and hence, it was a very tight competition for the first spot on the podium. Sergey Litvinov was the lucky one in the end. He threw 76,34m in the third round and received 12 points for Russia.
It was very difficult to throw far today because the hammer did not fly very well. I do not know why, maybe I was too busy last days and had to cancel Ostrava meeting because of this competition. It is very important to me, so I wanted to help my country to gain the points. I am glad I managed and now I will have a competition in Finnland in 4 days.
