Todays Loiste Eliittikisat event in Finnland produced some massive javelin throws. The Finnish thrower Tero Pitkämäki won the competition with a enormous season best of 85,48m. The Kenyan thrower Julius Yego placed second also with a season best of 84,44m. Ari Mannio completed the Finnish sandwich and took the third spot on the podium with 80,77m.
Currently the Egyptian thrower Ihab Abdelrahman is leading 2014 top list with an area record of 89,21m thrown at the Diamond League meeting in Shanghai earlier this year. The Japanese thrower Ryohei Ara,i currently placed second in the world with 85,48m, has to share the spot with the Finnish thrower Tero Pitkämäki. Tero opened with a foul and Julia Yego took the lead.
After the first three rounds it was clear the battle for the 1st spot on the podium would be fought between the Kenyan and the Finnish thrower. Until the 4th attempt Pitkämäki was leading the event and was just taken by Yego during the fourth round. Tero underlined his great shape and responds the new season best of 85,48m. No one could surpass Tero during the final rounds anymore.
Ario Mannio placed third with 80,77m, followed by the New Zealander Stuar Farguhar 79,69m which also mean a season best for him.
