The second day of the European Athletics Team Championships seems to be a great day for the throwing world. The German shootingstar Andreas Hofman won surprisingly the men’s javelin event against the Russian Dmitriy Tarabin. Hofman won the competition with a massive personal best of 86,13m, followed by Tarabin’s season best of 83,40m and the Ukrainian Masym Bohdan 80,83m.
It is the year of the German javelin thrower Andreas Hofmann. He is continuing the season with massive personal bests throughout all the competitions. He opened the competition with his personal best of 86,13m. After this massive throw it seems he lost his tension. He could not get any other attempt over the 80m mark. But who cares? No one came even close to his first round throw.
The Russian Dmitriy Tarabin was the thrower, one would have expected to win the competition. He threw his new season best of 83,40m also during the first round. Same as for Hofmann, also Tarabin did not improve any further. He fouled all his remaining throws and let the German shootingstar take home 12 points.
It seems that the the first around was something special in the men’s javelin event. Also the third place, Maksym Bohdan threw his best throw during the first round and was measured 80,93m.
I cannot believe it at the moment. I did 86m, in the first attempt! I was in a great mood and a great shape. But still I am surprised that the other throwers did not catch me. 2014 is my year, my personal year, after a lot, lot of injuries. Now in 2014 I am back again having achieved 86 m, this is simply bombastic! Now I need to calm down after so much excitement. The audience pushed me so much. This is really awesome! Now I want to continue the season in the same way and stay relaxed.
I only put 50 percent in the first attempt, so I really tried hard to improve in the following throws. Of course, I am a bit upset that I did not manage it. But I hope my points will help our team a bit. Technically, the last throws were not technically good enough. Now, I will go home after one and a half month and I look forward to seeing my little doughters for the first time. I will stay home for a week and help Maria with the girls. Then, my next start will be in Glasgow Diamond League.
