Robert Harting moves ten tons of steel each week

New coach, an indoor competition, and the idea of sports lottery….. no one can say world #1 Robert Harting (SCC Berlin) is resting on his achievements, but rather looking for new challenges. “Every year has different colors and at the end of a beautiful picture comes out of it,” R’Harting explains.
R’Harting, his younger brother Christoph and Julia Fischer are currently focusing on making gains in weight room. “Ten to twelve tons a week,” says R’Harting.
To compete during this type of training cycle and in this state is quite a challenge, if not ill-advised. “One can hardly move due to the muscle pain,” said the three time world champion. But R’Harting would not be himself if he did not accept the challenge at the ISTAF Indoor competition (March 1). “I think people will be loud enough for all the pain to vanish.” 10,000 Athletics fans are expected to attend the event in Berlin o2 World.
Due to the heavy training sessions, the Olympic champion expects to throw 63m to 64m. Of course he wants to win the competition but it depends on how specifically the other throwers prepared this event.
Starting project Olympic Gold 2016
In the back of his mind R’Harting is already planning up to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in two and a half years. Recently R’Harting changed the coach to Torsten Schmidt and set a the course in the direction of Rio. The goal is clear: “I want to stay No. 1!”. How to achieve this goal is not defined yet. “We think not only regarding discus throwing, but also we are looking for a new business model.”
Even though R’Harting is planning on some minor technical changes he still wants to keep his three titles, the Olympic Champion, World Champion and European Champion. This year he has to defend the European Champion in Zurich, Switzerland August 12th to 17th.
