Nadine Müller marries girlfriend

The German Discus Thrower Nadine Müller announced her gay marriage via Facebook two days ago. She married her friend Sabine on New Years Eve. “We do not want to hide anymore or avoid any relationship questions. We wanted to stop with our sham marriage,” said the 28-year-old.

The police officer is the first prominet German athlete, who enters ino a same-sex marriage. And she wants to encourage other lesbian and gay athletes to “come out” as well. “Why not? However, ultimately everyone has to decide for himself how he or she wants to live. I’m glad to have finally taken this step. I feel so free, its incredible. Life only can get better from now on.”

The couple wants to have children. “We are already going to take actions”, said Müller. She also said that her athletic career will get a boost from that outcome as well, so everyone should be alert.
