It seems that the year has not ended for the Shot Put Youth World Champion Patrick Müller yet. At today’s “Christmas”competition Patrik Müller showed once again that he is capable of blasting the 5kg ball. He broke his own record of 21,44m (70′ 4¼”) by 12cm.
Most of the athletes around the globe are getting ready for Christmas celebrations, not so much Patrick Müller. He decided to compete at the Christmas competition in front of a home crowed in Neubrandenburg, Germany. And as we all know now, it was the right decision, instead of sitting on the couch sipping an ale and waiting to open his Christmas gifts.
At the end of the season 2013 Patrick Müller underlines his amazing shape and provides a proper outlook for the upcoming 2014 season and junior championships. During the first round Müller shocked the audience with an impressive 21,56m (70′ 9″) toss, which was exactly 12cm further than his previous indoor world best with the 5kg implement. But not enough, Patrick showed us all that he is capeable of more. During the next rounds he threw again two times over the previous record of 21,44m (70′ 4¼”). The shot landed at 21,45m (70′ 4½”) and 21,54m (70′ 8″). During the outdoor season Patrick Müller already moved the implement to 22,02m (72′ 3″) which secured him the gold medal at the World Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine. It was already the second meeting he competed at this weekend. Yesterday Patrick threw 20,99m (68′ 10½”) with the 5kg and 19,63m (64′ 5″) with the 6kg.
