Former Soviet´s World Record Holder and six-fold Soviet Champion Juri Dumtšev believes that Gerd Kanter is still capable to throw farther than Jurgen Schult´s world record 74.08m.
“Schult´s world record is fantastic, no doubt in that. Back in that time it was unbelievable. Once I thought Alekna or Kanter will break it, but Kanter is one that could do it soon,” he told Sports-Express.
He also admitted that Schult´s record is suspicious. “He threw 10 meters less in next meet. He had throws close to 70 meters in his career but just once after his record-throw he was able to do over 70 meters,” former record holder explained.
Kanter is one of the greatest of all-time. He has eight compelling medals in his bag which is a class-act and dream for any athlete. He won the greatest title in 2008 Bejing Games, although names have changed Kanter definitely still has guns to do it. His personal best is all-time third 73.38 thrown in Helsingborg 2006. The fact that Kanter owns the world record indoors (69.51m) is impressive.
Dumtšev´s world record stood 3 years until Jurgen Schult threw the still standing 74.08m. Dumtšev himself is now a famous actor who has played in more than 60 movies. He also coaches shot put and discus throw in Moskow.
