2011 U23 European Champion Sarah Mayer won a competition held in Berlin, Germany with a throw of 55.28m (181′ 4″). This mark was also beyond the qualification standard for the U23 European Championships in Tampere, Finnalnd (11th-14th of July). With the result of Bernhard Seifert during the men’s competition he can claim a spot for Tampere as well.
Two days before Sarah’s 22nd birthday she threw despite wet weather conditions and difficult winds the required qualification standard of 54m (177′ 1″) for the U23 European Championships held in Tampere, Finnland. In 2011 it was Sarah Mayer, who became surprisingly the U23 European Champion. Now two years later she would like to defend her title. The 2011 German national Champion Laura Henkel became second with 48.35m (158′ 7″).
Bernhard Seifert threw the 800gr javelin to 77.76m (255′ 1″) and surpassed the U23 European Championships qualification mark of 76m (249′ 4″).
The U18 javelin thrower Dominic Strauss also improved his own meeting record to 66.32m (217′ 7″). Christoph Müller became second with 64.18m (210′ 6″). Lena Lilie won the U18 women competition with 45.82m (150′ 3″).
