Today the Oxy-Lu “Last Chance Qualifier” at the Occidental College was a competition with non ideal weather conditions. It was about 38° C (100° F) and “right tailwind” as Rutger Smith described it on his Facebook page. Despite the weather conditions Rutger managed to throw 63.08m (206′ 11″) in the second round.
Today Rutger Smith competed at the Oxy-Lu “Last Chance Qualifier” at the Occidental College. His second round throw of 63.08m (206′ 11″) secured him the first place. “I didn’t feel as powerful as last Friday, but I’m happy I can trhow these marks pretty easy in those circumstances.
Michael Torrie finished second with 59m (193′ 6”) and Jarred Rome placed third with 57m (187′).
“As i said, hard circumstances. Just came out and wanted to see what i could do”, said Rutger Smith after the competition.
