Christina Obergföll went to New York with only one goal, winning the Diamond League meeting. She threw 65,33m (214′ 4″) which secured her four points in the diamond race.
Last Monday the Olympic silver medalist Christina Obergföll opened the season with 64,53m (211′ 8″) in Rehlingen. During the Diamond League meeting in New York she added 80cm (2′ 7″) to her season best and threw 65,33m (214′ 4″).
In the fourth round in New York, she produced a throw of 65.33m (214′ 4″) to give her victory in a season’s best display after also reaching 60.65m (198′ 11″), 60.18m (197′ 5″) and 61.71m (202′ 5″).
The Russian World Champion Mariya Abakumova became second with 64,25m (210′ 9″). Kimberley Mickle from Australia threw a new season best of 63,93m (209′ 8″) and placed third.
Today there was only one javelin thrower who threw further than Christina. Linda Stahl won at the “Halleschen Werfertage” with 65,76m (215′ 8″).
