Today the weather conditions were not that good at the competition held in Rehlingen, Germany. Very cool temperature in combination with continous rain made life difficult for the throwers and prevented in many disciplines good results. Javelin thrower Christina Obergföll performed, despite the bad weather conditions, well. She opened her season with 64,53m (211′ 8″).
Javelin thrower Christina Obergföll presented her very good form in the first competition of the season. In the third DKB Cup the Olympic silver medalist won with a German season best of 64,53m (211′ 8″) and thus cleared the qualification standard for the upcoming World Championships in Moscow, Russia (10th – 18th of August). Linda Stahl became second with 62,44m (204′ 10″) which is also beyond the qualification standard of 62m (203′ 4″).
In the women’s discus throw, another DKB Cup discipline, Julia Fischer threw a new stadium record of 60,39m (198′ 1″) and won the competition against Anna Rüh who threw exactly 60m (196′ 10″). “We were both totally tired of yesterday”, said Julia Fischer. The day before both of them threw personal bests, Julia 66,04m (216′ 8″) and Anna 64,33m (211′), at the Werfer Cup 2013 in Wiesbaden, Germany.
“In addition, today we had rain and tail wind, so the worst conditions you can have for discus throwing. Therefore, Anna and me were both happy with the results beyond 60m (196′ 10″). And of course I am happy that I have won the competition”, explained Julia Fischer.
