Between the years 2006 and 2012 Rocio Comba had been consistently close to the 60 meter mark, with throws between 58.78m (192′ 10″) in 2006 and 59.99m (196′ 9″) in 2012, but never being able to surpass it. Having been consistently close to the 60m (196′ 10″) mark for 6 years finally gave way to surpassing that invisible barrier this year.
Already the Argentine Record Holder in the Discus Throw, Comba has beaten her previous record of 59.99m (196′ 9″) (set March 24th, 2012) twice this year. March 9th 2013 would be the day that Comba, a native of Cordoba, Argentina, would throw over 60 meters (196′ 10″) for the first time. That day she got the discus out to a distance of 60.82m (199′ 6″). A little over a month later on April 22nd, in the second Grand Prix meet in Mar del Plata, Rocio bettered her record by 12cm (4.7″), throwing 60.94m (199′ 11″).
Miss Comba is currently ranked 2nd in South America and 13th in the World. Comba has her sights set on the upcoming South American Championships July 5th to 7th and later World Championships in Moscow August 10th to 18th.
