The European Cup Winter Throwing 2013 will be held in Castellon, ESP 16-17th of March 2013. Today there was a competition held in Kienbaum to select the throwers sent by Germany.
Nadine Müller produced the best result with 66,52m and showed a constant performance. All 6 throws were beyond 61m and even two of them were over 65m. Anna Rüh who we have written quite a lot about last year (Junior World Champion Discus, participant in the European Championships and even the Olympic Games) was quite good as well. She threw a massive 63,11m and showed that one should have her in mind when talking about the World Championships coming this year. Heike Koderisch became third with 57m and Ultike Giesa fourth 54,38.
The men’s discus competition was quite decent with best the performance by Martin Wierig (62,90m). He only had 2 legit throws and this might lead to the conclusion that he is still in training. Daniel Jasinksi became second with a great throw of 62,72m which is only 1,60m short of his personal best. Markus Münch’s throws were all under his abilities with only 60,08m and became third. Gordon Wolf followed with 58,47m and the “little” brother of Robert Harting, Christop Harting threw 57,42m in the first attempt. After that he produced 5 fouls in a row.
While Anna Rüh as a U23 thrower threw against Nadine Müller during the women competition, Shanice Craft (Silver medallist discus Junior World Championships) competed in her age category. She threw 57,39m and won the competition. Kristin Pudenz became second with 52,96m. Michael Salzer won the U23 Competition with 59,34m and was followed by Benedikt Stienen 56,76m .
Sarah Mayer, U23 Javelin Gold medallist from 2011, won the competition with 56,85m and was followed by Charlotte Müller (52,14m).
