The Olympic Champion 2008 Gerd Kanter has secured himself a second place finish in overall Diamond League standings. He is leading the list with 11p ahead of his closest rival Ehsan Hadadi (6p).
BUT, in case of bad coincidences he can fall into 2nd. Below are 4 black scenarios called Ehsan Hadadi, Virgilijus Alekna, Piotr Malachowski and Robert Harting. Diamond League winner gets 40 000$ in cash and valuable Diamond League trophy designed by Switzerland´s juwelry firm Beyer (founded in 18´s).[tabel caption=”Diamond League overall standings of the men´s discus”] #[attr style=”width:20px”],Name,Nation,Points

Scenario 1 – Mr Ehsan Hadadi
Olympic silver Ehsan Hadadi should win in Brussel to win the whole event, in case Kanter don´t finish on 2nd. Huge support from his country gained after silver medal finish in London put Hadadi in a good position, relaxed like he should be now probably don´t care about 40 000$ “pocket money” after his successful season. Considered that Iran´s powerful economy and richness allows them to treat their best athletes as mighty sheikhs, Hadadi can probably buy the whole stadium and turn it to his ping-pong room.
Scenario 2 -Old-horsepower Virgilijus Alekna
Legendary- Alekna has to win in Brussel, but in case Kanter finishes in TOP 3 he has no chance. It´s pretty admirable to see 40-yrs old Alekna, walking legend, on throwing field and throw 70m, unfortunately it won´t last long as he already announced his retirement from the big game (he will continue thoough – updated 10.02.2013).
Scenario 3 – Underdog Piotr Malachowski
This year hasn´t been much of a year for Malachowski, still, he has a little chance to cheer himself up when he wins in Brussel and Kanter won´t finish in TOP 3. Malachowski hasn´t been in a bad shape holding 3rd position this year with 68.94m, but as all throwing gang knows he won silver in Beijing and WC silver in Daegu. In 2011 he became the European Champion, no wonder why he is disappointed over his performance in London.
Scenario 4 – Der Harting, Robert Harting
The Olympic champion Robert Harting has equal winning chances as Malachowski, or does he? Mighty German has won 32 meets in a row and even his subway adventures can´t mislead him from his path. He has to win in Brussel and Kanter has to finish below TOP 3. Winning OG, WC and EC titles in 365 days is kind of a crazy achievement. Definitely he wants to press a boldy tot to his season and reward himself with 40 000$.
UPDATE 29.08.2012, 17.05
Harting announced that he will finish his season on 2 Sept in Berlin and won´t participate in Brussel.
A decisive DL meet will be held in Brussel, 7 Sept 2012.[tabel caption=”Point counting in DL”] Rank[attr style=”width:20px”],Points,In Final
