The discus legend Virgilijus Alekna ends up with his career soon.
“You won´t see me in Rio. Five Olympics is enough. I will finish up my career soon. If I travel around different meets people call me a coach already,” Alekna told press.
Fourth place is dissappointing for Alekna, of course. He has two Olympic golds during his impressing career, he has won everything that is possible to win in track and field. He holds second best throw in history 73.88m.
“I started my Olympics with a fifth place and I finished it with fourth. I tried to place myself on a medal position with first two rounds.I knew I don´t have enough capacity for more. Weather was cool, not suitable for oldies. Winners threw farther so everything is formal and fair,” he admitted.
Alekna will probably throw his final throw in Kose (Estonia), at the ERGO World Games. Throwholics keeps you updated with all the possible changes.
