Today the 8th Schönebecker Solecup was held in Schönebeck, Germany. Martin Wierig competed against his German fellow throwers Markus Münch, Daniel Jasinski, Christoph Harting and Gordon Wolf. He launched a personal best in the second round with 68,33m.
Martin Wierig launched with his first attempt already a new PB of 67,66m which would ranked him already 9th in the world. But this was not enough for the athlete of the former Discus Thrower Armin Lemme who has a personal best of 68,50m. The second attempt was the best one with 68,33m which ranks him 4th in the world, right behind Robert Harting (70,66m), Virgilijus Alekna (70,23m) and Piotr Malachowski (68,94m). His last attempt was measured 67,12m which underlines the good shape of Martin Wierig.
The 68,33m of the second round pushes Martin Wierig to the 4th place in the world. Furthermore he is now ranked 6th in the all-time discus thrower list of Germany.

The field behind Martin Wierig was very close together. Markus Münch became second with 61,99m, Daniel Jasinski 61,64m, Christoph Harting 61,22m and Gordon Wolf with 55,41m.
The men threw together with the women and Anna Rüh was again the one who was unbeatable. Anna Rüh who recently won the Junior World Championships in Barcelona produced a throw over 63,38m. Shanice Craft who became second in Barcelona was once again closely behind Anna Rüh with a nice performance of over 62,84m. Heike Koderisch became third with 60,60m and Ulrike Giesa with 57,62m fourth.

The shot competition was once again won by David Storl. He threw a new Meeting Record with 21,26m and Ralf Bartels became second with 20,30m. Candy Bauer 19,32m became third and was followed by Tobias Dahm 18,70m and Hendrik Muller 18,04m.

Betty Heidler won the competiton with excellent 75,79m followed by her teammate Kathrin Klaas 70,90m. Gabi Wohlfahrt became third with 60,78m and Carolin Paesler threw 60,15m.
Sven Möhsner won the men’s competition with 71,37m followed by Johannes Bichler 67,48m and Benjamin Boruschewski 65,28m.
