The Riga 2012 International Meeting in the Latvian capital saw home wins in the throws for javelin thrower Madara Palameika with 61.45m while shot putter Maris Urtans reached 19.84m.
Hungary’s Robert Fazekas won the men’s discus with 64.75m while Serbia’s Dragana Tomasevic took the victory in the women’s event with 60.67m.
In the men’s javelin, Sweden’s Kim Amb threw 81.70m to defeat local hope Ainars Kovals, who had to settle for second with 81.15m.
Croatia’s talented 21-year-old Marin Premeru, the 2011 European Athletics U23 Championships bronze medallist went over 20 metres for the first time in his career when he won in front of his homecrowd with 20.02m at the Dinamo Meeting in Zagreb on Tuesday.
