The Throwers Podcast continues its series of long form interviews with University of Georgia Throws Coach, Don Babbitt.
Over the past 15 years, Don is arguably the world’s most successful throws coach, having coached 39 athletes to Olympic Games and/or World Championships. Eight of those athletes have brought home a medal. Hear Don’s story of how he came to the throwing events after being an elite level soccer player through High School. He talks about how he walked on to UCLA and became a javelin thrower, finishing 7th at the Pac-10s in 1988.
Don shares thoughts on training college athletes and goes into some depth talking about training elite athletes including Reese Hoffa, Adam Nelson, and Breaux Greer. Finally, he tells a great story about world travel and what it’s like to eat beaver stew yes, beaver stew.
