In an event sure to grab the public’s attention, local hero and world shot put champion David Storl, the 2011 European Athletics Rising Star of the Year, will clash with his American predecessor as world champion, Christian Cantwell as well as Poland’s 2008 Olympic Games winner Tomasz Majewski.
Cuba’s 110m world record holder and 2008 Olympic Games gold medallist Dayron Robles will contest the indoor event of the 60m hurdles.
The event will be seen across Europe as the pan-continental broadcaster Eurosport which recently signed a deal for the next three years, will broadcast the meeting live.
The 2011 Düsseldorf meeting was rated by the respected Hungary-based statistical company All-Athletics.com as the third best indoor meeting in the world last winter, after the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships and another German meeting in Stuttgart.
