The reigning Olympic Champion Gerd Kanter, of Estonia, competed in Warsaw today. The meet was second of Kamili Skolimowskiej memorials.
Kanter threw 67.99 and won the competition over the World Leader, Hungary´s Zoltan Kovago who heaved the discus to 66.69. Third was Robert Urbanek with 64.37. Piotr Malachowski who is struggling with a knee injury threw 63.93 and was fourth.
One of the show events of the day was a men´s shot put with an interesting competition where throwers had to throw with 8, 7.26, 6 and 5 kg shots and results were merged.
The winner was Dylan Armstrong of Canada with a row of 20,03-21,23-23,26-24,15 which gave him 88,67m of total. Second was Tomasz Majewski, the Olympic Champion of Poland with a sum of 88,64m (19,75-20,86-23,15-24,88), he was followed by America´s Christian Cantwell with 87,24m (20,27-21,42-22,71-22,81).
As you can see competition was tense as first two were in 3 cm.
