ERGO World Games 2011 will be held tomorrow in Tallinn a capital city of Estonia.
The idea of the ERGO World Games is to find out the best discus country of the World. The idea comes from a legendary Estonian throwing coach, Aleksander Tammert Sernior, a former European Junior Champion in shot put.
The first ERGO Games competition was held on 27 September 2007, the primary competition format allowed 3 throwers in each team, since 2008 there can be 2 throwers.
Legendary Aleksander Tammer Senior unfortunately passed away in October 2006. The idea was carried out by his son, Aleksander Tammert Junior, the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games 2004 and European Championships 2006. His discus lifetime best stands on 70.82 and was thrown in 2006.
Estonia has won the competition three times (2008-2010).
The competition promises to be a high class with the double World Champion Robert Harting (GER), the reigning Olympic Champion Gerd Kanter (EST), the reigning European Champion Piotr Malachowski (POL), World Championships bronze medalist Ehsan Hadadi (IRI) and the World Leader Zoltan Kovago (HUN). Virgilijus Alekna won´t compete due to a foot injury that he got in Berlin recently.
Throwholics will have a live coverage from the men´s discus competition. Full startlist will be uploaded later today.
