After improving his lifetime best to 21.50 in qualification, Germany´s shot put star David Storl took the Gold with another lifetime best of 21.78m.
However, he improved his lifetime best three times of total. In his second attempt in the Final he improved his best set in qualification to 21.60m, then in his last attempt, meanwhile Canada´s world leader Dylan Armstrong had taken over the Lead (21.64), Storl showed his unshakable spirit which have brought him Gold medals from the World Youth Championships in 2007, World Junior Championships in 2008, European Junior Championships in 2009 and European U23 Championships this year, with a throw of 21.78 that made him the youngest shot put world champion ever.
Dylan Armstrong, the world leader, finally took silver with 21.64, a throw which had given him confidence that was torn down by David Storl.
Bronze went to Andrei Mikhnevich, of Belarus, with a throw of 21.40m. He was followed by Christian Cantwell (21.36).
Interesting is that four throwers of America were on the field but neither of them got a medal: …4th Christian Cantwell (21.36), …5th Reese Hoffa (20.99), …7th Ryan Whiting (20.75), …8th Adam Nelson (20.29).
