Andreas Thorkildsen, the man whos titles take plenty of space to write them all down- 2x Olympic Champion, World Champion and the European Champion- he has them all. Now, a few weeks before the next major competition, when the spectators and fans are waiting in excitement to witness a great effort from Andreas Thorkildsen, he became the first man in the world this year to launch the spear over 90 metres when he threw 90.61m at the Norwegian national championships in Byrkjelo on Sunday.
The conditions were really good, perhaps too good with the strong wind, but still a little tricky. However, these are the type of circumstances that should be exploited to get big throws. The first two throws were just to get started, mainly to check and adjust my run up; then it was time to let loose! said Thorkildsen, who was competing at the venue for the very first time.
This is the first time anybody throws 90m this season. The previous leader of the season´s chart was Thorkildsen himself with 88.43m.
