Thorkildsen improves his world leading

Norwegian double Olympic champion Andreas Thorkildsen won the Diamond League meet held yesterday in Stockholm. His best throw in the second round 88.43m is also a new world leading result this year.
It is not much to say Thorkildsen competed in the “one man competition” as the second place was taken by Matthias De Zordo of Germany who threw 84.37m. The battle for the second and third place was much more tense. New Zealand´s Stuart Farquhar threw his new season´s best in the second round and finished third with 84.21m.
Finland´s javelin celebrity Tero Pitkamäki, the World champion 2007, was totally out with just 77.82m which he threw in the fourth round. He barely got into the final eight with 75.67m as the junior world record holder Zigismunds Sirmais (LAT) got close in his third throw with 75.47m. He finally finished 9th.
