The Estonian leader of the men´s javelin throw Risto Matas had to acknowledge the superiority of Mihkel Kukk at the Estonian Championships 2011.
Mtas has a season´s best of 80.41m. Today his best was 76.01m which was less than Mihkel Kukk´s winning throw 76.76m. It is an interesting situation that Mtas has the B-standard of the World Championships, Kukk doesn´t.
Estonian Athletics Federation set announced that only the Estonian champion can compete at the World Championships if he has thrown the B-standard. That means Mihkel Kukk still has a chance to be selected into the Estonian Team if he throws the standard, if it won´t happen then Matas will be selected although he didn´t win at the Estonian Championships.
Bronze medal was taken by Tanel Laanmäe with 74.44m, he has a lifetime best of 81.96m which is an Estonian U23 record. Ranno Koorep who has improved his lifetime best to 75.58m this year, got really close to Laanmäe in his final throw of 74.40m.
