Estonia´s javelin thrower Liina Laasma won the first Golden award to Estonia at the European Junior Championships in Tallinn.
The competition generally was tense. The leader until the last round was Lina Muze of Latvia with her first round´s effort 55.83m. Before her final throw Laasma was just sixth with 54.01m but put all her effort into her last and final throw with releasing the golden 55.99m and winning over Lina Muze by just 16 centimeters.
The victory was special for Laasma as she competed in front of her home crowd.
Bronze went to Germany´s Laura Henkel with her new lifetime best of 55.37m.
