Vadims Vasiļevskis (LAT) put on a show in Tartu, at the BIGBANK Kuldliiga with a great effort in the men´s javelin. He engrossed the world leading with a throw of 88.22m, ahead of Sergey Makarov (RUS) and Tero Pitkamäki (FIN) – both 85.33m.
His lifetime best stands on 90.73m since 2007, it´s also the Latvian record and ranks him 10th all-time.
“I am very happy with the result, especially because the track was too short, I am used with a longer run. Currently my shape is very good. I hope to reach 90 meters soon. This was my second competition this season. I hope to return to Estonia and participate at the BIGBANK Golden League competitions. The organization of those meets is a really high level. Thanks for the organizers of the BIGBANK Golden League,” Vasiļevskis said. “I have much more to show!”
Vasiļevskis has a silver from the Olympic Games 2004 but now he is one of the favorites to win a Gold at the World Championships in Daegu. His next competition will be at the Riga Cup 2011 on 2 June. It will be held in Daugava.
