The reigning Olympic champion Gerd Kanter has announced his participation at the BIGBANK Kuldliiga meet in Tartu and hopes to throw over 65 meters.
“Back problems didn´t let me to train as I wished but my trainingsession today showed the situation is getting better and nothing will bother me on Saturday,” said Kanter who is ranked second in the seasons top list with 67.49 m. “When last week it seemed that I could hope the seasons best performance then now I would be satisfied when I throw over 65 m, seasons best would be super!”
Kanter admitted his disappoinment that injuries didn´t let him train as hard as he wanted. He believes there is enough time to get into his best shape for the World Championships.
32-year old Kanter plans to attend in the Diamond League meets in Eugene and Oslo.
“If those meets are over I will take my time off,” he said.
Märt Israel who threw his lifetime best 66.98 m in Chula Vista choosed to compete in Hengelo on Sunday.
