Almost a month ago Throwholics published an interview with the next great Polish shot putter Konrad Bukowiecki (“Konrad Bukowiecki trumps Patrick Müller with 21,89m w/video“) about his new world youth record of 21,89m (71′ 10″). At today’s competition in Bydgoszcz, Poland, he further improved his record when he knocked the 5kg ball out to 22,24m (72′ 11¾”). He upped his previous record twice; during the 3rd round he marked the floor just 2cm short of his PB and finally broke it in the 4th. A last round 21,94m was also over his pre-meet PB.
It seems to be a big year for Bukowiecki. He said his goal would be to get closer to the outdoor youth best of 24,35m (79′ 10¾”) by Jacko Gill. The season is very young and there is still a lot of time and training to be done to get closer to that impressive record. Gill’s mark is still 2m clear of Bukowiecki’s PB and this might be a tough goal. But who knows, everything can happen.
His complete series was:
19.11m (62′ 8½”)
21.87m (71′ 9″)
22.24m (72′ 11¾”)
21.94 (71′ 11¾”)
